GOING GREEK: Lonsdale St Greek Festival is on today and tomorrow (25-26 Feb), celebrating a massive 30 years of souvas and ouzo. With 3 stages of free entertainment, children’s rides and activities, and over 60 food, drink and craft stalls, it’s Melbourne’s largest celebration of Greek culture. More info:

HEADING SOUTH: One for the diary, March will see the arrival of the first ‘Southern Carnival’, presented by Southern Comfort – it aims to bring the full New Orleans experience to Melbourne. Huey Longs in Fitzroy will be the home of the festival – it’s the bar out the back of Po’ Boy Quarter in Fitzroy), running from March 1-11. The fun starts at 6pm every night, and you can indulge in signature Southern Carnival cocktails, and plenty of serious souther food (think cheesy mac croquettes and shrimp remoulade with fried green tomatoes). There’s also a special five course dinner on the 8th March, at just $63 for food AND matching drinks, bookings at

NO MISTAKING NOBU: World famous celebrated chef Nobuyuki ‘Nobu’ Matsuhisa and ten of his team from around the world will be arriving at Crown Melbourne on 15 March for the Nobu Festival – a two-day celebration of culinary delights and a rare opportunity to see some of the world’s best chefs in action. His restaurants are now scattered across five continents, and team members from each will be in town to take part in Masterclasses and pretty spectacular sounding cocktail night. It’s all happening on the 15th and 16th March.

CAMUS, NORTHCOTE: It’s hard not to be a fan of Pierre Khodja, haven tried his Middle Eastern cuisine at Canvas and then the hatted Terminus in the past, it was heartwarming to visit his very own restaurant this week, Camus. In the very ‘cool’ Westgarth strip, it’s a stylish but casual space, with a mouthwatering French-Algerian menu – not a combination I’d tasted before, but it was divine. Full marks to the stuffed calamari and seared scallops with jerusalem artichoke puree. I cannot wait to return.
