Acting sergeant stood down, accused of sexual behaviour at Christmas party

A police officer has been stood down amid allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour at a police Christmas party.

The officer, an acting sergeant, is accused over an incident in Docklands last week, but is not from a station in that area.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton told Neil Mitchell the Taskforce Salus, a division of Professional Standards Command, is investigating the matter.

Speaking more broadly, Mr Ashton said Christmas parties have “been a source of a lot of frustration” for years.

“People let their hair down having a few beers, and then things get messy,” he said.

“I’m not sure what your Christmas parties here at 3AW are like Neil, but they can get a bit boisterous.

“It’s disappointing.”
