Sam Newman tells Neil Mitchell he’ll consider running for lord mayor of Melbourne ‘out of courtesy’
Sam Newman says he’s ‘probably not fair dinkum’ about running for lord mayor of Melbourne.
But the controversial media personality, who says he’s a ‘huge fan’ of Donald Trump, said he’ll consider it ‘out of courtesy’ after being asked.
‘I’ve been asked a couple of times,’ he told Neil Mitchell.
Newman, 70, said he was concerned by the amount of graffiti and litter in the city.
He also wants to make ‘alternative arrangements’ for the growing number of rough-sleepers in the CBD.
The Footy Show panel member also went on to dismiss suggestions he’d been asked by Channel 9 not to comment on the Eddie McGuire-Caroline Wilson saga before he weighed into the debate on Wednesday night’s show.
He didn’t back down from his stance.
‘What sections of the media have done, or tried to do, to Eddie McGuire is an absolute disgrace,’ Newman said.
‘He deserves better because he’s a very good man for this town, city and nation.’
