This Week in Food: Cellar Door in the city + Caddie opens on Swan St
THIS WEEK IN FOOD
Richmond’s just nabbed another eatery – Chef Dylan Evans (ex-NOMA / Alinea / State of Grace) has opened his own restaurant and bar in Swan Street, Caddie. The focus is local – local wine, local beers and local produce, he says you can pop in for a drink or two or settle in for a long lunch or dinner in the heart of Richmond. Current menu offerings – flat pasta, with black garlic, prawn and bottarga or beetroot with marigold vinegar, salted plum and almond. http://caddierestaurant.com.au
Chef Dylan James spoke with Darren on 3AW Afternoons on Friday, as a part of the program’s regular Meet the Chef segment.

CELEBRATING THE DARK TIMES
There’s always room for another festival, and Queenscliff has decided to celebrate the darkest time of the year with the Low Light Festival – a month long celebration of all the senses through art, music, and (of course) food. Culinary events include a a five-course big red dinner featuring a battle of the wines from Bordeaux and Bellarine, a Bastille dinner with a French musical twist, and a progressive dinner showcasing the best of the region in four great locations. It all kicks off on 22nd June, more info: lowlightqueenscliff.com.au
Speaking of the Bellarine, The Whiskery is about to open in Drysdale, a much anticipated cellar door/tasting room for Bellarine Distillery. Looks like a stunning site, it’s a former Cobb & Co horse watering hole/shed that’s been transformed into a fun but stylish venue. There’ll be tastings of their spirits of course – Bellarine Distillery whiskey and Teddy & The Fox gin, plus other local wines, ciders and beers, and a menu of local grazing plates and simple Italian style pizzas. Search “The Whiskery” on Facebook.
